Blaming Game

This article is not meant to sanewash Trump’s policies. It is meant to point out how selfish and greedy people can be. The reason Hitler gets so much hatred and is depicted as the most evil person in human history is partly because we don’t want to look at an obvious truth. The truth is that a significant number of Germans truly believed in him and joined the Nazi Party and the movement. That is such an ugly truth that many people refuse to acknowledge it, and therefore they blame everything on Hitler alone.

It is very interesting that before Nazi Germany collapsed, you could see Nazis everywhere. But in 1946, “Oh, I was never part of it,” and “I hate Nazis,” became the most common things you would hear on the streets of Berlin.

And this is very likely the outcome for MAGA in the US as well. When things go bad, many of them will say, “Oh, I was never part of it,” or “I was never MAGA.” But in this digital age, I wonder if that can work this time.

What I am trying to say is that many people nowadays are just blaming Trump, as if every idea is coming from him alone. No—Trump is nothing without the MAGA supporter base. Trump ordered the killing of hundreds of people overseas in those alleged drug boats, and the military obeyed it. It was the military that killed those hundreds of people overseas.

Trump built up ICE, and it is not only Trump’s fault. Everyone under the chain of command is also at fault. But now we are blaming Trump for everything because we don’t want to face the obvious ugly truth, too: that he is representing the dark side of around 30% of Americans. He is doing exactly what they want. He is the sum of the evilness that exists deep down in a lot of Americans.

But the truth is never easy to face. So nowadays, we are just blaming Trump for everything. Trump deserves blame, but deep down, it is much darker than that.
